The Currie family were originally Corrie from Dumfriesshire at the beginning of the 1800s. James Charters Currie moved to London and married Rosanna Clement, originally from Balmaclellan in Kirkcudbrightshire. They had 12 surviving children, 9 boys and 3 girls, three of them emigrating to Canada and one to Australia. Their son Alexander stayed in London, marrying yet another Scot, Jessie Johnston, daughter of a minister from Leslie in Fife, and together they had 5 children. Oswald went to the Boer War as a doctor, married and stayed in South Africa. The others all remained in England. Oswald's sister, Rosina Jessie, is our great grandmother.
The table below is an attempt to depict the family in chronological order. Clicking on a name will open a window with a biography of that individual. These biographies are short and factual. The Family Story section fills in the gaps.
