Currie, Clement, Johnston Family Biographies
Rosanna Currie 1841-1855

Born:

About 1841, tenth child and third daughter of James Charters Currie and Rosanna Clement.

Life:

A great fire took place next door when Rosanna Clement was pregnant with Rosanna (15th child). JCC wonders in his diary if it could have affected the child's health. In Aug 1853 (age 11) Dr Hamilton Roe is called in - consumption diagnosed - but she recovered for a few months before worsening again after Xmas 1854. In Jul 1854 she wrote of not being very well with the cough while visiting cousin Janet Mair. In May 1855 she is saying her farewells to her absent brothers who she will not see again "on this earth." In June a visit from cousin Janet helps her to talk about her death and to "accept Jesus".

Died:

19 July 1855 age 13 in Ashburnham Grove, Greenwich of consumption. Buried in Nunhead Cemetery grave 1734/162, now in Southwark London, attended by brothers Alexander, David, Archie and Allan and the Revd Mr Duncan.
