Currie, Clement, Johnston Family Biographies
Margaret Kirkpatrick ?-?

Born:

? Child of Robert Kirkpatrick, tenant farmer of Collin, near Torthorwald. Sister of Thomas Kirkpatrick (b 1758, who went on to become minister at Bowden before dying young at age 39) and John Kirkpatrick, b 1760. May have had 2 older half-brothers, Robert Kirkpatrick of Heathhall and another John Kirkpatrick, this time of Collin.

Life:

Married William Corrie in Torthorwald in 1775. “1775 Nov 6th Wm Corrie Millar of Sned Miln Glencairn to Margaret Kirkpatrick, daughter to Robt Kirkpatrick Farmer in Collin, there”.

They had 10 children: Elizabeth b 1778, Robert b 1781, Janet b ?, John (1) b 1784, Sarah b 1785, Mary b 1787, Thomas, b 1789, John (2) b 1791, Margaret b 1793 and James Charters b 1797, all born at Hollies or Hollows farm which may be the farm marked as HoleHouse - near Gairloch by Torthorwald.

Her brother John Kirkpatrick, farmer of Parkside (note that there is a farm called Parkside to the E of Dumfries which looks likely as near to another farm mentioned in the will) left money and chattels to her children. It looks likely that John Kirkpatrick had no children of his own.

Died:
