Born:

March 1788, oldest daughter and second of 15 children of Alexander Clement and Grizell Allan, in the parish of Balmaclellan, Kircudbrightshire. Christened at Balmaclellan Parish Church (Church of Scotland) on 18 March 1788.

Life:

Married David McClellan, son of Wm McLellan blacksmith and Marion McLellan, on 13th Oct 1811 at Balmaclellan. McClellans had 2 daughters that I know of: Marion about 1815 and Grace 1819. Marion married a mason called James Morrison and lived in Balmaclellan. Grace married Alexander McPHERSON of the City Office, lived 173 Bruntsfield Place d 1894 age 75.

In the 1841 and 1851 census, David McClellan is noted as a farmer of Blacknest in the parish of Balmaclellan. Janet is also in the census returns as his wife.

Died:

Not known. Janet's husband David died 16th April 1862 at Blacknest.
