Archibald Ritchie Currie 1844-1873

Born:

Between July and September 1844, eleventh child and eighth son of James Charters Currie and Rosanna Clement. May have been named after Mr Archibald Ritchie, a close friend of JCC.

Life:

In 1860-1861, age approx 16, had problems with "cursed Drink at the root of it all" and some illness where he lost the use of his limbs

In 1863, still living in London

Before 1871, emigrated to Canada.

In 1871, living in Perth Ontario, age 24, working as a book keeper, in the household of Thomas Jamieson age 43, manufacturer born in Ontario of Irish extraction, and wife Jane 34, ditto. Might be his employer or he is lodging with them.

Died:

Died, at Perth, on Thurs 21st Aug 1873, Archibald Ritchie Currie, book-keeper, aged 27 years (according to the MI), a native of Deptford, England - notice in the Perth Courier.
