Between October and December 1845, twelfth child and ninth son of James Charters Currie and Rosanna Clement. Called after both grandmothers - Grizel Allan (Rosanna's mother) and Margaret Kirkpatrick (James Charters' mother).

Four years old at the time of his mother's death (1850).

Sends religious tracts to his parents.
